Young Jewish Leadership PAC (YJLPAC) Urges The U.S. Pro-Israel Community To Speak Out LOUDLY! In Support of Israel’s Right To Self-Defense

NEW YORK – There have been calls by President Obama, Secretary of State Clinton and many in Congress not to rush to judgment and to wait until all of the facts are in. The facts ARE in and we urge the U.S. pro-Israel community to speak out LOUDLY! in support of Israel’s right to self-defense.

(1) The purpose of the blockade is to prevent weapons from being smuggled into Gaza hidden among humanitarian supplies. The surest way to prevent an ‘escalation of tensions and violence’ is to prevent weapons of all kinds from being smuggled into Gaza.

(2) Israel transports tons of humanitarian supplies into Gaza every week. There is no shortage of food, clothing and medicine. Further, both Israel and Egypt (which controls Gaza’s southern border) offered to offload and inspect the cargo for weapons and transport the humanitarian supplies to Gaza. Those offers, made weeks in advance, combined with Hamas’ recent refusal to accept humanitarian supplies delivered from the Turkish ships by Israel leads to the conclusion that the primary purpose of the mission was to break the blockade and NOT to deliver humanitarian supplies.

(3) The group that commandeered the ship that attacked Israeli soldiers has ties to Hamas and al Qaeda including the group that had planned to bomb LAX.

(4) Confiscated among the ‘humanitarian supplies’ were gas masks, bullet-proof vests, night vision goggles, machetes, metal bars and IED’s, not the usual provisions given to relief workers, and rooms on the ship were prepared to hold kidnapped Israeli soldiers.

(5) Since Israel voluntarily uprooted ALL of its citizens from Gaza, it has been besieged by rocket attacks and constant violence from the Iranian proxy Hamas.

(6) Turkey has gradually moved into the Iranian sphere of influence recently brokering a deal for Brazil to enrich Iranian nuclear fuel.

This was not an aide mission but an attempt to break the Israeli blockade so as to enable the re-arming of Hamas after Operation Cast Lead. It was part of a global effort to delegitimize Israel and weaken its security. It is incumbent upon the ENTIRE U.S. pro-Israel community, BOTH Republicans and Democrats, to STAND-UP! in support of Israel’s right to self-defense. U.S. strength comes from taking principled stands in support of democracy around the world. There is no greater supporter of democratic values in a sea of tyranny than Israel.
